Los Angeles, Here We Come.
When I graduated from college five years ago, I swore to myself I'd never go to New York. As someone from Philadelphia, I never dreamed of "making it" in the big city, never pinned pictures of the New York skyline, or found myself wanting to be caught in a crowd in the middle of Times Square (eek). I've always considered myself an east coast girl with a west coast heart and wanted to move to San Francisco or Los Angeles.
But, as you know, it didn't quite turn out that way. I found an amazing opportunity at a women's focused agency and my boyfriend, my friends, and at the time, my sister were all in New York. So, I found an apartment right in the middle of the city that never sleeps (when I need to go to bed by 11) and said I'd be there just one year. Well, almost five years later, I can safely say I love New York. But, it is time to finally explore that dream of going to the West Coast.
Next month, Nick and I will be headed to Los Angeles. It's terrifying and beyond exciting all at once. We know very few people there (the majority of our social and professional network is on the east coast). We're not used to sunshine every day. We definitely have no idea what traffic on the 405 is like. But, we finally have an apartment where I can grow basil on the kitchen window and I'm embracing the new adventure.
Nick will be headed to business school out there and I will be looking for a job in, you guessed it: health and wellness. Los Angeles' biggest employer is not the entertainment industry but actually healthcare! My goal out there will be to work for an innovative healthcare or wellness company and then later on to head to business school myself to ultimately champion gender equality in healthcare.
The Lemon Tribe will be expanding in exciting ways when I move out there and I can't wait to tell you more once I'm settled. It's going to be amazing to explore all the wellness space has to offer out west from farmers markets to workout classes to meditation spots. I'll be sure to document the whole journey on here and Instagram and if you have any recommendations for the LA area (or friend suggestions) please do let me know!
Thank you all for being so supportive and kind and loving as I take this leap and I can't wait to show you how it goes, the good, the bad, and the palm trees.
