10 YouTube Videos For When You Need Some Support

How I love YouTube. Let me count the ways. I love it for workouts and meditations, for influencer WIEIAD clips and celebrity sweaty hot ones challenges. The best part of YouTube is that it’s free so it’s definitely a resource I tap into for all kinds of needs, from reducing stress to kicking my morning off on the right foot. If you’re accessing this article, you’re probably looking for some support ASAP so below I’ve shared ten YouTube videos to support you in all kinds of moments. I’d love any suggestions you have to add to the list in the comments below. Happy watching!

If you’re having a panic attack…

Jal Yoga is in Singapore but the calming voice of this instructor can be found right from the comfort of your couch. I’ve used this meditation countless times to calm extreme stress or quell a panic attack. It’s quick and effective and I have it bookmarked for quick access whenever needed. I would suggest you bookmark it too- just in case.

If you want to start the morning fresh…

I know it’s Goop but there’s no yoni eggs whatsoever on this video, I promise. I love the guided imagery from meditation teacher and yogi Kate Waitzkin who has the most soothing and positive voice. This meditation really starts my day feeling positive, refreshed and ready to take on whatever the day brings.

If you want to drift off to sleep easily…

Ally Boothroyd is my bedtime hero. Yoga nidra is a relaxation technique that puts your brain into an alpha state which allows the brain to relax and the body to be flooded with serotonin. It’s kind of witch magic honestly but the first time I did it I felt like I woke up from a three day sleep, so well rested and amazing. I play this often to fall asleep, especially if I’m having insomnia and it works like a charm every time. I would highly recommend exploring her other videos as well.

When work is stressing you out…

Queue this up for your next work break. Progressive muscle relaxation helps you get out of your head and into your body and soothes your nervous system pretty effectively in just 15 minutes. It’s a great resource to go to if you have a break from work or at the end of your day to transition into the evening and let the stress of the day melt away along with your muscle tension.

When you are so over your workouts…

Caleb Marshall also known as the Fitness Marshall just fills my cup. When the idea of doing weights or another pilates session just feels boring or I’m not into it, I will often follow along to a few of these videos which are so fun, get my heart pumping and keep me laughing the whole time. I love the inclusive approach to these videos and honestly how hilarious they are. It’s the perfect break from your routine and you’ll have some awesome dance moves to show off after.

When you need a good stretch…

Yoga teacher Kate Amber is simply lovely and I love many of the free yoga flows she posts on YouTube but my favorite is this stretch series which is so restorative and helps me immensely after tough workouts to protect my muscles and aid in recovery. Adjust positions and stretches as necessary to fit your body because she is quite flexible and you’ll want to adapt for yourself.

When you want to feel empowered…

This is my hype song and this rehearsal makes my cry every time. It’s not only an empowering ballad about being and owning who you are but the power of community in this video and support just makes me feel so confident and touched. Turn it up, blast it, sing it, be empowered.

When you need a song to soothe your soul…

This is Me is empowering. This cover of Heavenly Father by Bon Iver is otherworldly and truly transports you to a different dimension. Best listened to in headphones, it’s a song I wish was on Spotify every time I listen to it because it is hauntingly, achingly beautiful and soothes my soul like nothing else. Best listened to in headphones, preferably in private where you can be in reverence to its unadulterated beauty.

When you need some calming background music to work to …

This is perhaps my most hippie suggestion on the list but I really love these sounds. Essentially, I think about what chakra could use some calming and find the right track. So if I’m feeling really ungrounded I might do the sacral chakra track or if I’ve just read some heavy news I might to do the heart chakra track. I find I can concentrate and get the most done with these tracks on and they’re not only calming but so unbelievably beautiful.

When you need a quick work break…

I have been a loyal MWH member since 2020 and this standing series which you can access totally free on her YouTube gives you a great taste of her movement style. I’ll sometimes do these at my desk while listening to an all-staff call or taking a quick break from work and your body and mind feel so much better once you’ve gotten a little movement in with her.
